With the winter season upon us, the focus for many schools in Kaikohe was hockey. Following discussions with his Energize schools, Mid north Energizer, Bodean Rogers decided to call on the services of Hockey Northland Participation Officer Ngawhatuhuia Arahanga-Doyle to offer some ideas for teachers to be able to confidently deliver hockey in schools. It was a great turnout with teachers and whanau from 3 different schools attending.

Bodean was also on hand to facilitate discussion around the importance of making links to the health and physical education curriculum during their sessions. “It was great to hear teachers talking about how they could modify the games and drills to suit their students.” Bodean also helped the teachers understand that the drills and games shown for Hockey aren’t limited to hockey and can be adapted to teach other sports  as well.

This is a great way for schools to connect and share resources. The highlight of the workshop for Bodean was the way that the teachers from different schools were able to come together to learn while having fun and being active!
