Cheng Ming Tai Chi with Tim Baxter

Normally held above Arnold Franks building but when the weather permits, you’ll find this wonderful group performing their tai chi at the Whangarei Rose gardens.

Tai Chi improves strength and balance, and it also helps relieve stress and tension.  Tim Baxter, the instructor leading the sessions, is aligned with ACC’s Live Stronger for Longer Programme to help reduce falls and improve strength and balance for older people.

There are classes for beginners through to more experienced.  Some of these participants are 75-85yrs old and have been attending for 10-15 years.

Look how great they are in this short video here.

The participants say “it gets them up and keeps them going.  Tim is a patient and a great instructor”.

Want to join this class? Give Tim a call, 021 0520166 and if you are a group fitness instructor already offering classes that work with over 65s, reach out to us here at Sport Northland on 0800 ACTIVE or email ann-mariel@sportnorth.co.nz.
