Kaikohe Community Fitness (aka Team No Excuses) started quite organically when Dylan and Jade were approached by a couple of members of the Kaikohe community over the Christmas and New Year period and asked if they would provide some fitness sessions whilst all the other gyms in the area were closed.
Happy to help, they put together some fitness sessions at Lindvart Park and over the next few weeks this grew, starting with just four people and hten soon there was over 60. The sessions cater for everyone with movements that are both challenging yet scalable for every fitness level. When the evenings started to get a little bit darker, Kaikohe Community Fitness were lucky enough to get the support of Northland College and were able to use their main gym area to continue their sessions.
Dylan and Jade go onto explain “it’s important to us to provide something that is open to everyone, it can be difficult for some people to start on their fitness journey and we wanted to take away all the barriers, to make the environment inviting, non-judgemental and fun. That’s what keeps people coming back.”
Kaikohe Community Fitness (aka Team No Excuses) are providing free community fitness sessions at 5:30pm on Wednesday's, open to all and they cater for all fitness levels at Northland College Gym, Kaikohe.
Kaikohe Community Fitness (aka Team No Excuses):
Be greater than your excuses, what's yours?
I can't afford it - It's free.
I haven't got time - it's an hour which is only 4% of your day
I haven't got anyone to have the kids - Bring them, everyone else does, family first
I don't know what I have to do - the coaches will work with you to make sure you do
I'm not fit enough - You're not going to get fitter by not doing it
I don't know anyone - You soon will or just bring a friend with you
I'm not sure if it's my thing - Come along and see if it's a good fit for you
All you need to bring is you, a water bottle and be prepared to have some fun. They would love to see you on Wednesday at 5:30pm.
