It’s a Mindset Thing


One man’s story of choosing a better future

Ivan was always active when he was young however as he got older, keeping active wasn’t as easy to maintain. He says, “it’s all about your mindset, people get into bad habits and it’s hard to come back from that, so the best thing you can do is keep a healthy lifestyle from the start”.

When Ivan made the decision to get a Green Prescription, he knew it was up to him to look after his health as he gets older. He started to do a bit of walking at first, but felt he needed to do more. After discussing options with his support person Jo Naera, he decided to head to the gym at Kensington Fitness. He thinks that weight training is a really important part of maintaining his health.

When it comes to getting into a good routine, Ivan explains “the first week is the hardest, but you just have to push through it. If you need to make changes it’s up to you, it’s for your own peace of mind and health. Finding the time can be really hard, so set a time, you only really need about 40 minutes. Having a good plan helps, and the Green Prescription helped to make that happen”.

Now into a good routine for a couple of months now, Ivan has noticed some great changes, he feels a lot lighter and has more energy. He also feels like his brain is more active and he is more motivated in all areas of his life. To anyone out there wanting to make a change, here’s a few tips from Ivan: “You have to want it, it’s up to you, and remember it’s a mindset thing”.
