Sport A Month |
Sport A Month!
Give sport a go, it’s heaps easier to get active when you’re playing with your mates and whanau!
The Sport A Month Concept
Each month of the year will be dedicated to a particular sport. Throughout the month, clubs and organisations involved in that sport will be invited to facilitate free ‘have-a-go’ sessions for local residents. These sessions (similar to coaching clinics) will be devised and run by club coaches and, where possible, will be held at the club’s home ground/facility. The sessions, while free for participants, are designed to let the community ‘try before they buy’ and trial various sports to gauge whether they are interested in pursuing the activity. In doing so, the program will promote increased awareness of local clubs/organisations and their respective sports. Clubs are encouraged to promote their activities and registration process at the ‘have-a-go’ session however Council will be responsible for all other promotion.
